AC311 establishes guidelines for evaluation of push-fit and press-connection fittings for joining copper tubing, CPVC plastic pipe, and PEX piping materials, and press-connection fittings for joining copper tubing materials. Both fitting types are used for aboveground potable water distribution piping and radiant heat piping conforming to the IPC, IMC and IRC. This criteria is not intended to be used for evaluation of fittings intended for embedment in a solid material such as concrete.
