AC397 establishes guidelines for evaluation of exterior continuous thermal insulation systems (ECTIS), which are intended as exterior, nonload-bearing wall covering that provides a weather-resistance envelope on walls required to be of combustible or noncombustible, fire-resistance-rated or nonfire-resistance-rated construction. The systems discussed in this criteria are intended for installation on wood- or steel-framed walls, or on concrete and concrete-masonry walls.
